Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Malumfashi Local Government Area (LGA) in Katsina State is a region with a growing youth population, facing challenges related to unemployment and underdevelopment. Geopolitical influences, such as regional governance, political dynamics, and the allocation of resources, play a critical role in shaping youth empowerment programs in the area. Youth empowerment initiatives in Malumfashi include vocational training, entrepreneurship support, and educational programs designed to address these challenges (Olawale & Zubair, 2024). However, political instability, resource misallocation, and the influence of local ethnic dynamics often hinder the effective implementation and sustainability of these programs.
The study will explore the ways in which geopolitical factors such as political affiliations, ethnic considerations, and regional policy decisions shape youth empowerment initiatives in Malumfashi. The research will also investigate how regional leaders influence the prioritization of youth-focused projects and the involvement of international organizations in these initiatives (Bello & Ibrahim, 2023). This study will provide insights into how these geopolitical influences impact the outcomes of youth empowerment programs and propose recommendations for better program implementation.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Youth empowerment programs in Malumfashi LGA face significant challenges due to geopolitical influences, including political instability, resource allocation issues, and ethnic disparities. These factors affect the scope and effectiveness of such programs. This study seeks to appraise how these geopolitical factors influence the implementation and success of youth empowerment initiatives in Malumfashi LGA.
